Community support of new Owen Sound Family Physician Recruitment Committee activities which include:

• Promote public awareness of physician shortage issues
• Market natural beauty and financial benefits of the Owen Sound area and family practice opportunities to potential family physicians
• Communicate with all medical schools, medical resident programs and professional medical organizations regarding practice opportunities in Owen Sound
• Create a bursary program for local students away at medical school or in family physician resident programs
• Organize system to track and recruit medical students, residents and locums who may temporarily reside in Owen Sound
• Tour prospective family physicians throughout our community
• Investigate the development of a rural family physician training facility in Owen Sound

Bursary Recipients

Members of the family physician recruitment committee awarding
$2,500 scholarships to six local students who are studying medicine
in Ontario medical schools. Congratulations and best wishes to
